Multiple location, privately held Logistics Company in need of Accounting/Payroll/Unemployment Specialist to perform daily tasks that will support client’s business. Responsibilities include managing expense reports and reimbursements, entering financial transactions into the internal databases, and reconciling invoices. Ultimately, you will help the business run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions.

  • Processing unemployment insurance claims including determinations, wage audits, appeals, hearings, reimbursements, and payments
  • Reconcile invoices and identify discrepancies
  • Create and update expense reports
  • Process reimbursement forms
  • Prepare bank deposits
  • Enter financial transactions into internal databases
  • Check spreadsheets for accuracy
  • Assist with reporting needed for audits
  • Maintain digital and physical financial records
  • Issue invoices to customers and external partners, as needed
  • Participate in quarterly and annual audits
  • Process check adjustments, voids, manual check updates, reissues, overpayments, and other irregular payroll transactions
  • Set up new state and local taxing authorities not previously set up
  • Process new hires, employee data changes, and terminations in the HRIS and payroll systems
  • Enter payable items or corrections into bi-weekly payroll batches
  • Review payroll reports providing feedback to the Lead for corrections or changes before payroll is processed
  • Other projects and special assignments as requested

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Work experience as an Accounting Assistant or Accounting Clerk
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and efficiently with a diverse group of internal and external customers in stressful situations
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures
  • Familiarity with finance regulations
  • Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors
  • Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software
  • Organization skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
